Tens of thousands of fans welcomed the Argentina team when they
returned to Buenos Aires following their exit from the World Cup.
Despite being humiliated by Germany in the quarter-finals, losing 4-0,
the fans cheered and celebrated as if Argentina had won the World Cup
for the third time.

group phase. After playing out a sterile 0-0 draw with Uruguay and
falling 2-0 to Mexico, Les Bleus were put out of their misery by South Africa in Bloemfontein, a 2-1 defeat condemning them to bottom place in Group A.
