The 31-year-old Atletico Madrid striker is becoming recognised as Uruguay's best player in recent memory, adding international glory to the two golden boot awards he won as Europe's top club scorer in 2004-05 and 2008-09.

Harry Kewell is optimistic he will be fit and ready for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ despite suffering a setback with his recovery from groin surgery. Kewell has only played a handful of minutes for Galatasaray since having an operation in January and the Turkish club's assistant coach, Johan Neeskens, has been quoted as saying that an injury setback could see the Socceroos striker miss the FIFA World Cup.

The Ivorian Football Federation have confirmed that captain Didier Drogba has broken his arm but are still not ruling him out of the FIFA World Cup™. Drogba was forced out of the Côte d'Ivoire's warm-up game against Japan in Sion today in the 17th minute, leaving the field clutching his right arm. There were fears the Chelsea striker would miss the FIFA World Cup but the federation are confident Drogba will be able to play some part in the finals.

FIFA today provided information related to the publication of the release lists of players for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. According to the 2010 FIFA World Cup Regulations, the 32 qualified teams must provide a list of up to 30 players by 11 May (midnight CET).
