Brazil vs North Korea Match Analysis :
Brazil got the result they expected against the lowest ranked side at this summer’s World Cup but North Korea came away with a memorable goal, Ji Yun-Nam scoring a minute from time to half the deficit. Second half goals from Maicon and Elano had finally broke down their opponent’s resistance, sending them top of the Group of Death.

From the outset, North Korea got every man behind the ball and made life hard for Brazil, who struggled to find a way through a wall of red shirts. When they finally found space, they were met by dogged defending in a busy penalty area and struggled to seriously test keeper Ri Myong-Guk.

The Chollima went in deservedly at the break with the score at 0-0 but it took just 10 minutes of the second half for Brazil to find the net. Maicon found room down the right in behind the defence after a perfectly weighted through ball Elano.

With the angle closing, the Inter Milan right back chose to try and find room at the front post for his shot. His gamble paid off, Myong-Guk positioning himself poorly to allow the ball to sneak in between his body and the post to settle Brazilian nerves.

North Korea had looked threatening in spells on the counter attack throughout the first half, with star man Jong Tae-Se impressing going forward and tormenting Lucio and Juan.

But they were forced to sit in throughout most of the match, trying to fend off wave after wave of Brazilian attacks. To their credit, they kept the likes of Luis Fabiano and Kaka at bay for the most part, with the latter subbed off after an ineffective showing.
Elano then put the result beyond any reasonable doubt with another cool finish 18 minutes from time. Another well-placed through ball, this time from Robinho, found the former Manchester City man in space in the box. With more of the goal to aim at, he picked his spot in the bottom left corner of the net, much to the relief of his team-mates and the Brazil bench.

North Korea weren’t to be denied their moment though and when their golden chance arrived with the minutes counting down, Yun-Nam took it. A long ball from midfield was headed down by the impressive Tae-se into the path of the onrushing player down the left, who burst past a posse of Brazilian defenders into the box before unleashing an unstoppable left footed drive past Julio Cesar into the right hand side of the net.
